Dan Hoffman entered the financial services field in 2009, after selling his coffee company and spending a short time running political campaigns. In 2012, he joined Bienenfeld, Lasek & Starr, LLC (BLS). Though he describes himself as an “insurance specialist who assists small businesses and families with risk management,” he’s glad to be part of a collaborative practice that has the capabilities to address a client’s comprehensive financial planning needs.
Dan’s experience creating, growing and eventually selling his own company helped him learn a lot about business and money. “It provided me with a unique education that allows me to speak to and understand the concerns of successful business owners, and to walk them through some very important financial decisions,” he says.
His work as a political campaign manager greatly influenced his decision to transition into personal finance. “In the political world you are trying to help people on a macro level,” Dan explains. “In personal finance, you’re helping people on a micro level, sitting down with individuals, families and business owners.”
Dan particularly enjoys getting to know his clients on a personal level. Working at BLS has offered him an insight into people’s lives he feels he otherwise would not have had. “I have the opportunity to dramatically impact their financial picture,” he says.
Dan has been active in numerous local organizations including AIPAC, Jewish Federation, Young Israel of Hollywood, Jacobson Sinai Academy, the Broward County Bar Association, NAIFA, American Civil Liberties Union and the Vice President of Miami-Dade's BNI Revival.
Dan lives in Hollywood with his wife Michal, their twin daughters Nessa and Cara, their son Teddy and their rescued Jack Russel, Hobo.
